
Indian Consulate in Dubai Launches Free Interactive Course on Digital Literacy and AI Applications
Online Programme Aims to Protect Blue-Collar Workers from Frauds and Boost Employability

The Indian Consulate in Dubai has launched a free digital literacy course designed to combat frauds and introduce basic Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to blue-collar workers, enhancing their employability and cyber awareness.
Course Overview:
Satish Kumar Sivan, the Consul General of India in Dubai, highlighted the significance of the initiative, which is in partnership with the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC) and tech education provider Edapt Technologies. The first module of the course will focus on protecting workers from frauds, such as cyber frauds and social media scams. The second module will introduce the workers to AI applications and their real-life benefits.
“We are committed to helping the vast majority of the Indian expat community in Dubai to face the challenges of the modern world,” said Sivan. “This programme is a first step in that direction.”
Course Structure:

Module 1: Protecting Against Frauds
This section will cover how workers can identify phishing scams, email frauds, and other common frauds targeting blue-collar workers. It will also focus on the dangers of sharing sensitive information, such as OTP numbers, Emirates ID, and UAE Pass details with strangers. -
Module 2: Introduction to AI
Workers will gain foundational knowledge about AI, including tools for generating text, images, and visuals. Practical examples of AI applications, such as Meta AI integrated into WhatsApp, will also be taught, helping workers make smarter and more efficient choices in their daily lives.
Registration and Certification:
The course will be available in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. Registration will be conducted through Google Forms, with the course launching by the end of April. Upon completion, participants will receive certificates validated by the consulate.
Anwar Naha, the general secretary of KMCC, noted that the initiative was born from the growing number of cases involving workers being duped through online scams. He emphasized that the course aims not only to raise awareness about frauds but also to boost workers' employability in the tech-driven world.
Interactive Learning:
The eight-week course will consist of live, one-hour interactive sessions, held at convenient times for workers—either in the evenings or during weekends. The course will be designed based on participants' digital literacy levels, helping them recognize common scams and improve their ability to navigate the digital world safely.
Umar Abdussalam, CEO of Edapt Technologies, explained, “This course will empower workers by teaching them basic AI concepts and enabling them to make intelligent choices in everyday tasks, thus improving both their digital skills and employability.”
Fighting Common Frauds:
Pabitra Kumar Majumder, Consul for Labour and Consular Affairs, mentioned that the consulate had dealt with numerous cases of workers being duped by fake recruitment scams for countries like Canada, the US, and Europe. He stressed that the course would educate workers on how to identify and avoid such scams, especially those circulating through platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp.
